July 24, 16th Week in Ordinary Time

Gospel: Mt 13:8-23

The parable of the sower is one of my favorite parables from Jesus. There are a lot of thoughts which can be learned from here about our spiritual growth. This really talks about us. Jesus is the sower and we are the soil. At times we are the path which doesn’t understand the message, so His word does not penetrate in our interior life. At other times we may be the rocky soil, lacking the perseverance in the face of obstacles to faith. Gratefully, at times we are also good soil which receives the seed of God’s word and nurtures within our hearts.

For me as a youth servant, this parable challenges us to develop a deep spiritual relationship with Jesus to become a good soil for the seed of His kingdom. We cannot become a good soil without having a deep relationship with the Lord. This takes time and requires open heart and willing spirit. There are many obstacles to this journey of faith. Sometimes we get caught up in everyday anxieties like family problems, broken relationships, illness, or financial crisis. We may fail to deeply listen within the quiet of our hearts. The Lord challenges us to focus on His presence and listen to His word with open hearts and minds so that His seeds will thrive within us. We are called to be a good soil in His kingdom. We can do this by focusing our relationship with Him and with His people.

Let us all pray together that the obstacles which prevent the seed of God’s word from growing within us be removed from our hearts.

Every Act of Kindness

"Every act of kindness we do somehow takes root and blossom into more compassion, more kindness, more hope for human kind...." I got this quote from Jim Paredes and I agree and believe in him.

I believe that every act of kindness we share and do to people around us will be returned to us in a hundredfold, in ways we least expect. We are all givers and takers in this world but it is better to give than to receive.. When we give it should be with compassion and from the deepest part of our hearts.. if we do a certain thing wholeheartedly, we will indisputably feel a boundless joy.. I've learned this from my actual experiences in life....

Somehow, every act of kindness we did will touch the lives of other persons we meet.. even if we only did a simple and little things for them..The more we give, the more we receive.. The more we share our blessings, the more our blessings will be multiplied.. The more we care for others, the more they will care for us.. The more we show thoughtfulness to others, the more thoughtful people will come into our lives.. The more we extend our hands to persons who need us, the more help we receive when we are in trouble... The more we give hope to the hopeless, the more people will gain hope..

We should be kind not because we want anything in returns.. we should be kind because that's what our heart speaks. we should do well and show act of kindness altruistically.. not because we wait for prizes for the good deeds we had done.. God knows the desire of our hearts even if we try to deny them. Even if we were fooled and felt being duped, we should not stop in showing kindness to people who need us...ANG DIYOS NA ANG BAHALA SA KANILA.. it's our problem no more.
